Pretzel Dessert

It’s really easy to prepare. Even non-bakers can bring this to a potluck or picnic. The basic recipe is shown below. If I had a deeper oblong glass serving dish, I’d add another layer (#2) of cream cheese, whipped cream and sugar spread to top it off.

 Layer #1:
2 cups of crushed pretzels
3/4 cup butter (melted)
3 tablespoons of sugar

Mix above ingredients into 9 x 13 inch pan. Press flat onto bottom of pan. Bake at 400° F (204° C) for 5 minutes. Let cool.

 Layer #2:
8 oz. cream cheese (softened)
1 cup of sugar
8 oz. Cool Whip

Mix together until smooth. Spread over pretzel layer.

 Layer #3:
2 (3 oz.) boxes of strawberry Jell-O
2 cups of boiling water
2 (10 oz.) packages of sliced frozen strawberries

Mix strawberry gelatin and boiling water together. Add sliced frozen strawberries. Refrigerate for approximately a half-hour or until it’s slightly jelled. Pour carefully over cream cheese mixture. Chill until it’s ready to serve. Put any leftovers back in the refrigerator.
