In 1934 an unemployed engineer invented Monopoly and asked Parker Brothers to manufacture the game. They turned him down saying it was too complicated. The inventor made 500 copies on his own and sold all of them from one store. Parker Brothers reconsidered, and it became the most popular board game of all time.
